South African Weather and Climate

Cape Town is well known for having four seasons in one day. Cape Town has a Mediterranean climate with little rain over summer which starts around October and ends in March. The famous Cape Town South East Wind, also known as the Cape Doctor, can be quite intense. The Cape Doctor received its name because it was rumoured to cleanse the Cape by blowing all litter into the sea. For those who would like to tan, it is normally less windier in the morning. Winter, which starts around April and ends in August, is the perfect secret season for a quiet getaway and accommodation rates are much cheaper too. The weather forecast can be checked in daily newspapers or Tel. 082 162 for detailed short term forecasts.
